A series of animals each boast their skill at doing different things with different body parts, from turning their head to wriggling their toes.
The texts are simple and repetitive, easy to understand for young children and calling for active participation, both through imitating the animals’ actions but also by playing opposite. The illustrations bear the artistic signature of Eric Carle: colourful and unusual aesthetic.
My little one (2) fell in love with this book I picked randomly from our local library’s Foreign section for children. She adores imitating the animals’ actions, though she mysteriously shies away from playing opposite on this particular book.
As a mum, I love the playfulness with which that book can be read. It is also fantastic for young children to pick up vocabulary (body parts, animal names, actions…). It is also a great way to check whether your little one understands all that is narrated.
This book is available in several languages including Spanish.
