“You Can’t Take An Elephant On the Bus” by Patricia Cleveland-Peck & David Tazzyman

This book is one of our recent purchases and one of my daughters’ favourites. David Tazzyman’s illustrations are just fun, modern and stylish.  Patricia Cleveland-Peck’s crazy rhyming story of animals looking for a means of transportation, and the wide of variety of restless animals, are appealing to all age groups.  The vocabulary is rich and varied.  The rhymes of the text give this chaotic adventure an animated rhythm.  And as a former Londoner, I can only love the reference to this city through its beautiful red double-decker bus and London Underground bus stop (yes, you can guess why I got the book in the first place…)!
